Tumor-induced osteomalacia (TIO) is a rare paraneoplastic syndrome of chronic hypophosphatemia caused by the production of FGF23 in a typically small, benign, mesenchymal tumor. The diagnosis is often delayed and finding the tumor is sometimes challenging.
